Northern lobster also known as Atlantic lobster, Canadian lobster or American lobster. It is characterized by ‘color dark bluish green to brownish olive mottled with very dark greenish black spots, often almost black, pleura with reddish tips.’
Northern lobster are large-bodied territorial crustaceans that are found from Maine to North Carolina with abundance declining from north to south. However, they have been imported live into Europe for several decades resulting in their escape into the wild.
Northern lobsters inhabit a range of depths from the intertidal to approximately 700 meters, however, lobsters are most abundant in shallow coastal waters between 4-50 meters deep. It is by far the main lobster species, accounting alone for about 60 percent of total world lobster landings.

The term "fish" is used to classify a particular type of food, similar to the way meat, poultry, and cheese are categorized. The variety of fish species exceeds that of other food groups, with the United States alone incorporating at least 50 different types of fish and shellfish for human consumption.
